The Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG) is a collaborative initiative that welcomes sovereign African nations committed to the sustainable development and responsible management of Africa’s mineral wealth. Membership in AMSG is open to any sovereign African nation that shares the objectives and principles outlined in our Charter and expresses a commitment to actively contribute to the group’s goals and activities (Article 3.1 of the AMSG Establishment Charter).

As a member, countries will have the opportunity to drive economic growth, job creation, and technological development, while also unlocking Africa’s vast mineral resources. AMSG’s focus on local beneficiation and fostering partnerships ensures that Africa’s vast minerals benefit its people and the continent plays a leading role in the global energy transition, contributing to both regional and global prosperity.

AMSG proudly counts 17 founding member nations among its ranks. These countries represent a diverse range of Africa’s mineral-rich regions, each contributing unique strengths and perspectives to our shared mission. Our founding members include:

AMSG Observers

In addition to member nations, AMSG invites a wide range of stakeholders to join our initiatives as Observers. Observers include interested foreign nations like Saudi Arabia, intergovernmental organizations, international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), industry stakeholders, and other key global players who support our mission.

Observers may be invited to participate in AMSG meetings and activities, but they do not have voting rights. The process of granting observer status shall be agreed upon by the AMSG member nations.
